 2016 Preview

Red Level completed the 2015 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Red Level just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 1A region two with a 2-4 region record.

The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year.

Since 2010, the Red Level football program has struggled with a record of 12-49.

Over the past 25 seasons, Red Level has managed to compile a record of 109-160. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 1A and 284th in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2006.

The Tigers are led by head coach James Wise who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at Red Level. The Tigers saw improvement from a 2-8 record the season before coach Wise arrived. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Wise.

Coach Wise's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 10-20 (33.3%).

The Red Level Tigers will play in Class 1A region two during the 2016 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season.

The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Cottonwood on Friday, August 26 at Crystal Spring Park. Last year the Cottonwood Bears finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 2A region two. The Bears closed out the regular season with a loss to Wicksburg by a score of 46-7.

Red Level and Cottonwood have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 0-3-0 record against the Bears. They last met in 2004 with Cottonwood winning by a score of 27-18.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1969 the two point conversion was adopted for play following a touchdown. Until that time all conversions were worth one point.
